Currently, SMUD's Power Generation department is looking to hire an Asset Supervisor at our Hydro Generation Operation Facility in Fresh Pond, located approximately 60 miles east of Sacramento, 15 miles east of Placerville. In this position you will provide planning, oversight, and guidance for the mechanical maintenance crews. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance and repair of hydro generation equipment in addition to strong administrative management and leadership capabilities.

Purpose
To supervise, direct, plan, organize, and document the preventative and corrective maintenance and construction activities for Power Generation assets.
Nature and Scope
Leads in the development, implementation and coordination/oversight of Power Generation goals, objectives, processes and priorities in partnership with department leadership; selects, trains, mentors, motivates, evaluates and develops staff and ensures that department strategic objectives and priorities are achieved and coordinated with other departments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborates with fellow Assets Supervisors, Management and work schedulers to implement and direct operational activities including: making crew assignments, assigning work crews, preparing and issuing work packages for completion of maintenance, repair, modifications and additions to ensure successful outcomes; while maintaining a successful culture of safety, compliance and engagement.
Collaborates with other functional areas for planned outage scheduling and to ensure systems are fully operational and in compliance with all safety practices and in compliance with applicable standards.
Tracks, analyzes and reports work history and maintains work management applications as necessary.
Assists in budget preparation, implementation and adherence; participates in the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies.
Serves as a rotational on-call supervisor for hours outside of normal work hours.
Performs other related duties as required.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent
Required Experience Qualifications
Five or more (5+) years of directly related and progressively responsible relevant work experience performing power generation maintenance or construction in a lead or supervisory capacity.
Knowledge Of
Methods, materials, and equipment used in maintenance and construction of power generation assets; techniques and requirements for pre-and post-maintenance inspection and testing of plant components; principles and practices of supervision, training and performance evaluation' principles and practices of research analysis, reporting and supervision; principles and practices of budget development, implementation, and monitoring; principles and practices of work and resource planning; pertinent local, State, Federal rules, regulations and laws; applicable policies, practices, MOU???s and procedures; modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment
Skills To
Supervise and direct others to analyze and diagnose power generation asset operational problems and direct repair as needed; lead department processes and programs to ensure safe and effective processes; analyze budget and technical reports Interpret and evaluate staff reports; review and comprehend and enforce applicable laws, regulations, rules, procedures, policies and codes; observe performance and evaluate staff; prioritize and problem-solve department-related issues; apply various rules and procedures; and explain and interpret policy; analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals; communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Desirable Qualifications
Five (5+) years of Journey-level mechanical experience with hydroelectric power generation systems
Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing turbines, generators, and associated control systems
Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and cooling water systems
Experience with machine shop tools, fabrication, and precision measurements
Strong understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance practices
Familiarity with oil purification systems and overhead crane operation
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
Skilled in cost estimation, project scheduling, and resource planning
Demonstrated leadership in field teams or maintenance crews
Commitment to safety protocols and procedures in industrial environments
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Basic computer proficiency for reporting and documentation (e.g., CMMS or MS Office)
Required Licenses/Certificates
Must possess and maintain a valid California Drivers License CDL and a satisfactory driving record not more than two moving violations in the last two years
